WoW!

So I have started this new teaching gig at Hermitage. I am very familiar with the faculty and students since I substitute taught last year but believe me, it did not prepare me for all of the hard work! I have made it through my first full week of teaching and I want to go and celebrate!! Wow! Is all I can say.

First thing, no one can prepare you for the feeling you get when you are in the classroom, door shut and the students are looking up at you with evil in their eyes waiting to catch you off guard. They know you are new and want to take advantage of you any chance they get. You also realize that HELLO, you are responsible for teaching these students!

Secondly, no one can prepare you for the diversity of students you will have in your classroom. Some are super smart and sit there and act like perfect angels, others are not so smart and are little devils waiting to attack you! And you are thinking, how am I supposed to teach the below basic students and the advanced students.

Lastly, no one can prepare you for all of the extra time you will put into looking over your materials, preparing lesson plans, anaylyzing students scores and trying to find a balance between work and school.

But despite all of it, I have really enjoyed my first week. My faculty is great and overall so are my students. My family is also super supportive and have helped me out so much. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful support system and to be where I am at. I know that everything happens for a reason and can't wait to really delve into things and get comfortable.
God Bless!!
